Americans for the Arts Creative Conversations

Artvi Advocates Connects Artists and Arts Leaders to Make Dynamic
Difference in the Community.

On Thursday, October 29, 6pm at Everyday Clay Studio in Tillett Gardens,
St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands Artvi Advocates is partnering with Americans for the Arts to host Stretch Your Mind! Artvi Advocates Creative Conversation in the Virgin Islands on Thursday, October 29, 2009. Creative Conversations bring together emerging local arts leaders to discuss challenges specific to the arts in their communities. Creative Conversations are part of National Arts and Humanities Month programs coordinated by Americans for the Arts.

“The event is free and open to the public from 6pm at Everyday Clay Studio in Tillett Gardens. To attend, you can register online at www.artsusa.org or just join us as we explore new and creative ways to successfully educate our community, Virgin Islands legislators and policy makers on the need for continued and expanded support of the arts and culture in the U.S. Virgin Islands”, said Priscilla L. Hintz, Artvi Advocates Project Coordinator.

Artvi Advocates is a new grassroots organization of energetic and innovative art advocates who have a keen interest in furthering the cause of arts and cultural advocacy in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Artvi Advocates believes strongly that resources directed at organizations and activities which enhance and contribute to the educational, artistic, and cultural welfare of the citizens of the Virgin Islands constitute a real social and economic investment in the future of our territory.

The event is co-sponsored by Everyday Clay Studio. The gallery will be featuring the exhibit, Whimsical Wonderland: Pottery and installations by Alison Davis and Kimberly Young. Artists, arts educators, administrators and art enthusiasts are encouraged to attend. Wine and Cheese will be served. Everyday Clay Studio is located in Tillett Gardens, Anna’s Retreat, St. Thomas.

National Arts and Humanities Month is coordinated by Americans for the Arts. Americans for the Arts is dedicated to representing and serving local communities and creating opportunities for every American to participate in and appreciate all forms of the arts. The month-long celebration has become the largest annual celebration of the arts and humanities in the nation.
